Society's History
When we decided to put together a website for Newport [Gwent] & DCS, it was important for us - especially the three new Officers to find out as much as we could about the Society and those who have been at the helm. Since there are many gaps in the paperwork it was decided to go to the Kennel Club and ask for as much information as they could give us. We have received the following and the search continues.
The application for registration of title for the club appeared in the Kennel Gazette in May 1920 and was made by Mr A.E. Jones of 3 Market Street, Newport. The application was granted the following month. The club appears for the first time in the 1921 Kennel Club Stud Book, but is absent from the 1922 Stud book. Thereafter, it appears every year.
We now have well documented evidence of Newport holding a dog show in 1913 and prior to 1910...........click here to see it:
